4,000 and Still No Answers

The recent rash of violence in Iraq hasn’t been covered much in the news, but I feel it’s important to mention since many Americans still have friends and family fighting in this illegal and immoral war and the NNM is doing it’s best to distract us in every way possible.  Think about all the stupid things the NNM covers, while ignoring the important world events happening on a daily basis.  Who the fuck cares about Brittany Spears when their child is dying from a lack of health care?  Is the baseball steroid scandal all that important to those still rebuilding their lives from Hurricane Katrina?    When downtown Philadelphia is beginning to look and feel more like downtown Bogota, does it really matter that Obama gave a lightly poignant speech about race?  If our freedoms are eroding away and no one seems to notice, what exactly are our soldiers fighting for?

 4,000 US soldiers dead in Iraq (not including those who died of wounds after being airlifted to Kuwait, or those soldiers who have committed suicide at home because of PTSD),     29,451 US soldiers wounded in Iraq

    Isn’t it incredible how the MSM is completely ignoring the way the GOP war for oil and conquest us falling apart? I wrote about it both yesterday and today. While Bush and McConJob tell us how normal things all, the embassy staff are under orders not to sleep in their own beds due to the danger. One death was one too many.

    Did you read what W said. That the latest violence is a boon for the Iraqi people.

    :::::sighs::::

    I did read that. I understand what he was trying to say - that the violence is illustrating that the Iraqi army can handle itself, because this is an “Iraqi led operation”, but according to my cousin who is on the ground there, that’s not quite the case.

    I remember when we hit 3,000.

    …and it wasn’t that long ago.

    I remember having an arguement with a guy at work about pop radio. I found it annoying that so many stations played the same damn songs over and over, and thought that DJs should educate the listening public about music, even if only within the genre. He argued that if the people wanted to hear only the “hits”, then that’s what they should be given, because a pop station is, after all, a commercial enterprise and makes its profits by giving the public what it wants. No resolution was reached between us.

    The same goes for the MSM. Yes, it is controlled by a smaller and smaller few people, but it still needs to make a profit, and so will give the people what they want (more or less). A lot of people want to hear about Britney. Try googling her. Now google Bush. And while a lot of those Britney hits are MSM, a lot are blogs, just like Dubyas. Guess who, unfortunately, wins the count (by about 3X)?

    We get the government we so richly deserve. Next stop: The McCain Express!
